Himalayan Multiflora Honey: What Makes Mountain Honey Different

High in the Himalayan regions, bees forage across meadows full of different wildflowers. The honey they make is called multiflora or wildflower honey, and it is one of the richest, most rounded honeys you can find in India.

What is multiflora honey?

Multiflora honey is made when bees collect nectar from many different flowers in one area, rather than mainly from one (which is called monofloral honey, like acacia or lychee). Because the mix of flowers changes through the season, every harvest has its own character.

What makes Himalayan honey different?

  • Altitude and climate: cooler temperatures and a short flowering season shape the flavour.
  • Plant diversity: mountain meadows offer a wide variety of wild plants.
  • Less farmland: bees forage on wild vegetation rather than a single crop.

BeeBlend Himalayan Multi-Flora Honey is collected at altitude (around 2,000–3,000m) and never blended with honey from other regions.

What does it taste like?

Rich and rounded, with floral and herbal notes, a hint of spice and a clean finish. It is deeper in colour than acacia or lychee honey, usually amber to dark golden, and fuller in flavour.

Flavour notes: wildflowers · herbal · mountain freshness · subtle spice

How to use Himalayan multiflora honey

  • Your everyday jar: tea, coffee, warm water and lemon. See the best honey for tea.
  • Breakfast: on toast, oats, chilla, pancakes or yoghurt.
  • Baking and cooking: in place of sugar in cakes, cookies and dressings.
  • Masala chai: rich enough to hold its own with milk and spices.

Does it crystallise?

It can. Multiflora honey sets at different speeds depending on the flowers in that harvest. Crystallisation is natural and doesn't mean the honey has spoiled. Warm the closed jar gently in warm water if you prefer it runny. More in Why Does Honey Crystallise?

Monofloral or multiflora: which should you buy?

If you want one versatile honey for everything, choose multiflora. If you enjoy distinct flavours, such as fruity lychee or bright mustard, explore monofloral honeys. Or try both: Himalayan Multi Honey is one of six flavours in the Pure Honey Collection.
